COCORO is out
PC visual novel from Frontwing and GOOD SMILE COMPANY — price, platforms, and where to buy.
The release window
COCORO launched as a premium PC visual novel on 27 August 2026 in Japan. Steam lists 26 August 2026 in some regions because of time zones. Both dates describe the same ship; the official site, Gematsu, and Japanese press use 27 August. Frontwing developed the game. Frontwing USA and GOOD SMILE COMPANY publish it. There is no console SKU, no live-service calendar, and no Roblox edition.
The product you buy is a single-player, linear route centered on one heroine. Asta Konno (ATRI -My Dear Moments-, GINKA) wrote it. Akio Watanabe designed the cast. Japanese audio is fully voiced except for the male protagonist, Mitsumine Hinata. Interface and subtitles ship in Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. The official site lists Windows 11, 1920x1080, and a modest CPU/RAM floor — details sit in system requirements. Steam marks the title Deck Verified; reading comfort and Cloud notes are on the Steam Deck page.
A free demo went live on 20 August 2026, one week before the Japanese street date. If you have not installed anything yet, you can still download that slice from the Steam store page and follow the demo play guide before spending money.
Price and the launch sale
The official English site lists USD 24.90. Steam often displays that as $24.99 at the register. Japanese digital coverage at launch quoted 3,800 yen for download editions. Steam ran a 20 percent introductory offer for the first 12 days, through 7 September 2026. After that date, expect the storefront to return to the regular list price unless a later seasonal sale is announced.
Steam also sells a COCORO + KANADE bundle. KANADE is Frontwing’s 2025 all-ages visual novel from the same publisher pairing. The bundle adds an extra 5 percent off both items on top of whatever individual discounts are live, so the stack changes if KANADE is already on sale. Check the live Steam widget rather than screenshot math from launch day.
This wiki does not sell keys. Region locks, VAT, and refund windows are Steam’s or the Japanese storefront’s rules, not ours.
Platforms and what ships in the box
Confirmed storefronts at launch: Steam (app 4650950), DLsite, and DMM. The official site’s platform line is Steam-forward; Japanese press and Gematsu also name DLsite and other download shops. There is no physical PC box announced for the worldwide Steam audience in the materials we are tracking. Features on the Steam page include 12 achievements, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, and Deck Verified. See the achievements guide for the trophy count without a spoiler walkthrough, and playtime for the roughly five-hour-23-minute VNDB clock.
Launch-week Steam reviews sat at about 91 percent positive from roughly 35 ratings. That is a first-day sample. It can swing as more players finish the route. Use it as a temperature check, then read our review if you want writing, art, and music discussed with spoiler care.
The story premise is public: after a global AI calamity, Hinata returns to ruined Tsukumo, hears of a “ghost” tending an abandoned botanical garden, and meets Cocoro, a prototype humanoid who still waits for a promised fiancé. Cast and voice credits — Hina Youmiya as Cocoro, Hikaru Tono as Ryuzaki Kazane, Maaya Uchida as Kizuki Kirika, and others — are collected on Cocoro’s character page and the players hub.
Where to buy
- COCORO on Steam — primary store for English players, Cloud saves, achievements, Deck, and the demo button.
- Official site (English) — price, specs, news, and staff.
- DLsite and DMM — Japanese digital storefronts named at launch. Search the title there if you already shop those catalogs; we are not inventing product IDs.
Wishlisting is no longer the main action. Buying during the 20 percent window (through 7 September 2026) is the only time-sensitive store fact on this page. The news log tracks everything from the March announcement through ship day if you want the history behind the store copy.
After you purchase
Install from Steam (or your Japanese shop), set language and volume, and turn on Cloud if you bounce between a PC and a Deck. The getting started guide is written for that first hour in the garden. COCORO is not a live-service title: there are no codes, gacha banners, or weekly login events. If Steam downloads a silent depot after day one, do not assume it is a named patch — Frontwing has not posted numbered notes. Check the Updates Hub and the news log instead of guessing version strings.
Technical problems that survive a verify-files pass belong in an email to ask@frontwing.co.jp, not in wiki comments. Store billing stays with the storefront you paid.
The links hub lists official X, YouTube, VNDB, and Gematsu if you want sources in one place.
